AIEd Forecasting Competition; Education in 2028 (Win Up to $25,000 Grant Prizes)

Call For Applications: AIEd Forecasting Competition; Education in 2028 (Win Up to $25,000 Grant Prizes)

If you’re passionate about the future of education and AI, here’s a chance to turn your insights into real reward. EdTechnical has launched the “Education in 2028: AIEd Forecasting Competition”, inviting submissions from anyone interested in predicting how AI will reshape teaching, learning, and higher education by 2028.

Participants don’t need to be technologists — just thoughtful, well-reasoned about how AI could change classrooms, assessments, and the role of human educators.

Why This Competition Matters

  • AI is already transforming education — but what comes next? This competition helps surface informed perspectives about where education could go by 2028.
  • By aggregating predictions from diverse voices (teachers, students, edtech founders, policymakers), the organisers aim to build a more nuanced picture of the future.
  • Winning forecasts will be publicly shared, helping shape how educators and decision-makers anticipate and plan for emerging trends.

Competition Details / Format

  • Submission Format: 500–1,000 word analytical essay plus a 2–5 minute video or voice recording defending your prediction.
  • 5 Thematic Tracks:
    1. Teaching Profession
    2. Cognitive Development & Mathematics Education
    3. Student Motivation, Personalisation & Socialisation
    4. Higher Education Assessment & Academic Integrity
    5. AI Tutoring
  • Judges include experts from the Gates Foundation, Google DeepMind, OpenAI, Khan Academy, Stanford, and others.

Prizes

  • Total prize pool: Up to US$ 25,000
  • 10 prizes per track (total 50 prizes):
    • Grand Prize: $2,500 each
    • 4 Runner-up Prizes: $500 each
    • 5 Honourable Mentions: $100 each

Who Should Apply

  • Teachers, school leaders, and educators
  • EdTech founders, developers, and startup teams
  • Policy-makers and education administrators
  • Researchers, students, and recent graduates with interest in AI and education
  • Anyone with a well-thought-out vision for how AI might transform education systems by 2028

How to Apply

  1. Visit the competition page: Education in 2028 – AIEd Forecasting Competition
  2. Write your analytical essay (500–1,000 words) answering the question for your chosen track.
  3. Record a short video or voice note (2–5 min) summarising and defending your predictions.
  4. Submit your entry through their online portal before the deadline (16 December, 23:59 GMT).
  5. Winners will be selected by the expert panel and notified via email.

Tips for a Strong Submission

  • Use data or current trends to support your predictions — don’t make vague or unsupported claims.
  • Make your forecast defensible: clearly explain the social, technological, and political conditions that would make your scenario possible.
  • Avoid extreme probabilities like 0% or 100% unless you have very strong justification.
  • Be clear about what “success” and “risk” look like in your future scenario.
  • Use the video or audio component to reinforce the passion and urgency behind your forecast.
  • Choose a country or education system (global/national) as your reference point and explain why your forecast matters in that context.
