Call For Applications: Bow Seat Ocean Awareness Contest 2024 (Win $1,000 prize)
The 13th annual Ocean Awareness Contest serves as a platform for young individuals to delve into environmental issues through art and creative communication, enabling them to grasp the complexities of a changing world and advocate for positive transformation. Students aged 11-18 worldwide are encouraged to join.
The 2024 Ocean Awareness Contest, themed “Tell Your Climate Story,” invites participants to share their personal narratives as witnesses to climate change. They are prompted to creatively articulate their experiences, insights, or perceptions regarding the evolving climate reality. This opportunity not only fosters understanding of the climate crisis and its impacts on families and communities but also prompts reflection on individual responses to this dynamic landscape.

Eligible participants, falling within the age range of 11-18, can choose between the Junior Division (ages 11-14) and the Senior Division (ages 15-18). They may submit entries individually or as part of a group, with an Adult Sponsor’s contact information required for all submissions. Note that students currently enrolled in college or university are ineligible for participation.
Entries are accepted across various categories, including Visual Art (Handcrafted and Digital), Poetry & Spoken Word, Creative Writing, Film, Performing Arts (Music & Dance), and Interactive & Multimedia.
Engagement in the Ocean Awareness Contest offers manifold benefits, including deepening understanding of climate change and its ramifications, honing skills in communication, critical thinking, creativity, and environmental advocacy. Participants can also enhance their portfolios and receive participation certificates while gaining exposure through global showcases, publications, and scholarships.
By participating, individuals join Bow Seat’s extensive global community, connecting with over 30,000 like-minded youths committed to ocean conservation, environmental justice, and climate action. They may also access special opportunities such as the Future Blue Youth Council, internships, and judging roles.
Moreover, participants stand a chance to win cash awards of up to $1,000. The submission deadline is June 10, 2024.
