Yonsei University is one of the emerging private institutes in Seoul, South Korea. It is one of the three SKY universities, and they are one of the top universities alongside Seoul National University and Korea University.

Yonsei University is also the oldest South Korean university, founded in 1885. It is an emerging Christian private university established in South Korea.

Given that Yonsei University was ranked among the top 20 universities in Asia, Yonsei University has three campuses, 19 undergraduate colleges and schools, and 16 postgraduate schools.

Yonsei University’s main campus is in Seoul, founded in 1885; its second campus was established in Wonju in 1977, with over 9000 students are studying there.

Yonsei University was established alongside severance union medical college. The modern and updated version of Yonsei was established in 1957 when Yonhi College and severance union medical college merged.

Severance was first created as a hospital in 1885, and Yonhi was first established in 1915. “Yonsei” is the combination of the first three letters of both former schools before they merged.

Though Yonsei University is a Christian school, it does not require any applying students to be Christian; anyone of any religion can study at Yonsei University; they are not in support of religious discrimination.
