What is NBA League Pass?

NBA League Pass is a pay television out-of-market sports package featuring National Basketball Association games.

It carries all nationally televised games not aired on a regional sports network affiliated with an individual team.

The remainder of each team’s schedule not on national television appears in a market’s local market only.

For example, ESPN broadcasts up to 45 Milwaukee Bucks games each year, but DirecTV subscribers in Milwaukee cannot see any of those telecasts; however, FS Wisconsin can be watched in Madison.

The service is provided by satellite provider Dish Network and cable provider Cox Communications.

A free preview consisting of one game was offered through January 17, 2012; beginning with 2012–13, all games are available through League Pass Broadband at no additional charge beyond regular subscription rates.

Games are available live or on-demand during the current regular season and prior seasons going back to 2007–08.

Is NBA League Pass Worth It?

NBA League Pass Premium has been around since 2001, giving fans a way to watch an entire season’s worth of games without buying tickets.

It’s a great perk, especially if you live in a city without pro sports or want to check out a few teams you’ve never seen play before.

And thanks to streaming services, you don’t need cable; you can watch on your phone, tablet, or computer.

Here are three things to consider before buying NBA League Pass Premium.

1. How Many Games Do You Want to Watch?

If you’re a die-hard fan who wants to see every game of your favorite team, NBA League Pass Premium might be a good investment.

But if you only want to catch your team’s biggest matchups, other options might be cheaper, like getting tickets or watching TV when they play on national TV.

Of course, there are always exceptions; if your team is struggling and isn’t going to make it into any nationally televised games, that might be reason enough to buy League Pass.

2. Do You Have Access to a Streaming Service?

The cost of League Pass depends on how much you use it. The more games you stream, the more expensive it gets.

Look at Hulu Live TV or Sling TV if you don’t have cable but still want to stream some games.

Both services offer ESPN as part of their basic packages, so all you need is an internet connection and a device with an app like Roku, Apple TV, or Amazon Fire Stick.

Pros and Cons Of NBA League Pass

When it comes to paying hundreds of dollars on sports streaming services, there are pros and cons to every package.

For example, NBA League Pass is one of our favorite ways to watch basketball.

It’s a great way to catch games that aren’t on TV and stream live games if you miss them while they are on.

However, there are some cons with NBA League Pass, too, such as its high cost and lack of certain features (such as DVR).

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with subscribing to NBA League Pass if you love basketball.

Still, you should fully understand what you’re getting in return before purchasing a subscription.

Conclusion

If you’re an NBA fan and you haven’t already joined League Pass Premium, get on board now.

At $7.99 per month, League Pass Premium is a bargain compared to buying games individually, but not all teams are created equal in terms of the number of games available

If your favorite team isn’t included in League Pass Premium, you might want to think twice about subscribing or at least wait until after Christmas.

If your favorite team has a lot of games covered by League Pass Premium, subscribe immediately.
