How to write a Letter of Recommendation for Scholarship

Recommendation for Scholarship is gaining more and more buzz as the years go by as every student desire quality education and many a time, it’s very expensive to study in a top university, therefore, the need to seek a way out through a Scholarship is of great importance. Writing a recommendation letter for a scholarship requires techniques.

In this article, we will tell you the easy ways to get all the information you need to write a strong recommendation letter.

It Provides an objective on how the student shows their qualities base on the requirement the scholarship foundation needs.

What to Include in Your Scholarship Recommendation Letter

Your past dealings with each student that asks you for a recommendation is likely special. And you’ll wish to make your letter sounds real and not like another’s person’s template.

Here’s the  best format for recommendation letters

  • An introduction that shows; who you are, your connection with the student, and how long you’ve known them
  • Your detailed observations and views  about the student’s academic ability, personal strengths, and readiness for college
  • Specific examples that support those observations and thoughts
  • A summary that includes why you think this student is a good fit for this particular scholarship
  • A closing that says you’re open to being contacted for more information if needed

Ways to Get All the Information You Need to Write a Strong Scholarship Recommendation Letter 

Writing a great recommendation letter for students might be simple. Probably you’ve known these students for years, trained them or you have been there teaching them numerous subjects.

  • The student’s name, grade, and test scores  
  • The scholarship name, eligibility criteria, and the website where you can find more information, deadline for the letter of recommendation and ihow to send it properly.
  • 2-3 sentences on why they think they desere to be considered for the scholarship and why they think they’re a good fit for the scholarship
  • 1-2 of their biggest academic attainments in and outside school setting.
  • 1-3 extra curricular wins that has boosted their self esteem in or outside of school settings
  • A concise conclusion of what they wrote about in their scholarship application letter, so that you don’t repeat the same words they’ve stated in detail.
  • What classes they have understudy with you, a concise description of a lesson or activity they enjoyed in your class, and why they specifically chose you to write the recommendation letter.
  • This may look like lots of information. And you probably won’t need all of it. But, believe us, you’ll be happy you asked for it when it comes time for you to sit down and write!
  • And if you think your students will be intimidated by that list, consider copying it onto a nice-looking Word Doc first. Or use something like the Common App’s brag sheet that serves the same purpose.
