Job Summary

  • You will be working as R&D Team Leader Egypt and will be the part of Electrification business area for Services division based in Lagos, Nigeria.
  • In this role you will be reporting to Service Sales Manager and will be responsible to ensuring the Service portfolio is delivered effectively according to ABB standard processes and safety guidelines to satisfy customers, execute technical support and act as specialist in own area of expertise, in collaboration with the customer and ABB units/sales teams ensures customer needs are understood and business opportunities utilized for Service growth

Your Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support by identifying technical problems and determining corrective actions in own area of expertise via remote or on-site service in any service category (installation and commissioning; maintenance; repairs; engineering and consulting; advanced services; extensions, upgrades and retrofits; end of life services, replacements, etc.)
  • Focusing on one ABB Approach in delivering service, investigating customer needs through professional consulting, providing technical consulting and specialist assistance on service solutions to management and customers by giving relevant inputs on customer requirements and proposed service products/solutions
  • Determining effective service applications, equipment and methods for developing, market or manufacturing new service offerings to respond to customer requirements cost effectively applying safety rules and safe practices as well as environmental responsibilities, reporting unsafe practices and incidents
  • Managing customer relationships and maintaining regular contacts with key customers, identifying new sales opportunities, proactively communicating both with the customer and ABB sales teams to ensure customer needs are met and business opportunities utilized for service growth
  • Conducting specialist support and advisory service for sales team, ensuring accurate communication and exchange of technical information to the customers for addressing their needs and reporting and following up customer feedback to achieve high level of customer satisfaction
  • Coordinating and performing specialist service projects in relevant areas internally and externally (e.g. milestones, project plan, cost supervision, action steps, project reviews, project supervision) including all commercials, preparing all required technical documents and reporting for project contracts to be signed by the customer representative
  • Reporting work done in a timely manner and providing relevant technical supporting documents to the service execution teams and follows up when needed, participating in maintenance meetings and improvement activities to proactively providing suggestions for product and quality improvement and shares with ABB organization/management
  • Providing technical specialist support and coordination for the service team, planning activities, coordinating the work of internal and external technicians and assigning them specific tasks related to service needs and supervising project teams and contractors at work site and monitoring performance
  • Performing primary and secondary injection on protection relays, relay settings and simulate trip test with different setpoints and time settings, carrying out contact resistance, vacuum integrity, H.V. test on circuit breakers and medium voltage switchgears
  • Performing wiring checks and commissioning of M.V/L. V Switchgears, operating Omicron test set utilizing the test universe application software, overall knowledge of relay retrofit, relay Engineering, drawing modifications and Markups, performing test on Power Transformers and commissioning of distribution networks with interfaces.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree / MSc in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in MV switchgears/LV switchgears
  • Preferably 5+ years’ experience with compact secondary substations, medium voltage switchgears, circuit breakers or similar equipment
  • Experience as team leader or projects manager is desirable
  • Fluency in English language is mandatory
