JOB DESCRIPTION OF AN HSE OFFICER

• Oversee the implementation of developed OHS (Occupational, health, and safety) policies, procedures and programs in accordance to global, national and local legislations
• Conduct, review and communicate Job safety analysis and risk assessment and also enforce the implementation of mitigation measures
• Identify training needs and coordinates with relevant parties for training delivery
• Identify training needs and coordinates with relevant parties for training delivery
• Prepares report on occurrences and provides statistical information to upper management
• Initiate, coordinate and document periodic safety meetings
• Periodically inspect facility premises and site operations to identify, stop unsafe issues and recommend actions to take to correct and prevent associated risk
• Carry out periodic inspection on safety and engineering tools and ensure they meet regulatory standards
• Participates in the project pre-mobilization meetings to identify health and safety concerns inherent in new and existing projects

EDUCATION And Work Experience

HND/ B.Sc. in a related field. (A degree in Engineering will be an added advantage)

• 2-3 years relevant work experience in a similar position
• Candidates must possess HSE level 1, 2 &3
• NEBOSH, IOSH and other relevant certification in HSE will be an added advantage

Technical Competencies

• Knowledge of applicable legislation on health and safety
• Possess knowledge of safety requirements & in an Engineering company or similar industry
• Understanding and application of HSE policies, tools and kits
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
