Air Force Basic Training, Day by Day

Whether heading to Air Force Basic Training or just packing up for an overnight trip, it’s always essential to have everything you need and nothing you don’t. 

If you’re planning your Air Force Basic Training packing list, be sure to include items like socks, underwear, and shoes that are sturdy enough to handle the rigorous physical Training, as well as clothing that is lightweight but still warm enough to control the Texas weather during fall and winter.

In addition to clothes, don’t forget your toiletries such as deodorant and toothpaste.

Air Force Basic Training, Day by Day

Week 1: Basic Training

Basic TrainingTraining is the first step in becoming the United States Air Force Airman. It is a seven-week program that teaches you the basics of military life. 

You will learn to follow orders, live close quarters, and work as a team. You will also be physically and mentally challenged every day. 

By the end of Basic Training, you will be transformed into a disciplined and motivated Airman, ready to serve your country.

Week 2: Flight Formation

You’ve made it through the first week of Air Force basic training! Congratulations. This week, you’ll focus on learning how to fly in formation. 

This is an essential skill for all Air Force pilots, as it allows for better communication and coordination while in the air. 

Here’s what you can expect during week 2 of your Training. 

On Monday, you’ll spend the day in the classroom learning about flight formation theory. 

Tuesday and Wednesday will be spent practicing what you’ve learned in simulation exercises. 

Thursday is a review day; on Friday, you’ll take to the skies with your fellow trainees to put your new skills to the test.

Week 3: Career Counseling

Week three of Air Force Basic Training is all about career counseling. You’ll sit down with a counselor and discuss your interests and goals. 

They’ll help you figure out what to do to achieve your goals. Plus, they’ll provide you with resources and advice on how to get there.

Week 4: Mental Preparedness

One of the most important things you can do during Air Force basic training is to stay mentally prepared. 

This means staying positive and keeping a good attitude. It also means being ready for anything that comes your way. 

Here are some tips to help you stay mentally prepared during your fourth week of Training

  1. Remember, it’s only temporary. 
  2. Stay focused on why you joined the military first (to serve our country). 
  3. Remember daily how much stronger you’ve become as a person and how much better your life will be when this is over (remember why you signed up). 
  4. Remember it’s not about doing something hard. It’s about doing something hard that we all need to do together so we can come out stronger on the other side (it’s not just about completing one mission at a time, it’s about completing one task after another until our missions are complete). 
  5. Be proud of what you’ve accomplished so far. 
  6. You’re going to make it through this.

Week 5: Combat Training

This week, you’ll be learning how to fight in close quarters. This is an important skill, as it could mean the difference between life and death in combat.

 You’ll learn how to use your body and various hand-to-hand combat techniques to defeat an opponent. 

This week will be intense, but by the end of it, you’ll be a much better fighter.

Week 6: Beast Week

The sixth week of Air Force basic training is known as the Basic Expeditionary Airman Skills Training (BEAST).

This is when you will be put to the ultimate mental and physical test. You will constantly run, do calisthenics until you drop, and spend little time sleeping. 

It will be the most challenging week of your life but also the most rewarding.

Week 7: Evaluations

The seventh week is the evaluation week. You will be assessed on everything you have learned over the past seven weeks. 

 This includes your knowledge of the Air Force core values, physical fitness, and ability to follow orders. 

The evaluations will be challenging but necessary to gauge your progress. 

Remember to stay focused and do your best.
