Call For Applications: AfOx Visiting Fellowship Program 2025 for African Researchers

The AfOx Visiting Fellowship Programme offers an extraordinary opportunity for outstanding African researchers to forge international connections and concentrate on a project of their choosing in collaboration with scholars based at the University of Oxford.

Selected fellows will enjoy a 12-month affiliation with the University of Oxford, comprising ten months of virtual engagement and a two-month, in-person visit to Oxford between April and June (Trinity term). Throughout their Fellowship, AfOx Fellows will be affiliated with a specific department and college within the University.

Eligibility criteria for the programme are as follows:

  • Open to African Researchers in all disciplines across all University departments.
  • All applicants must have an Oxford-based researcher named as their collaborator on their application.
  • The programme warmly welcomes applications from all academic disciplines and strongly encourages applications from female and underrepresented researchers.

During their time in Oxford, AfOx provides fellows with:

  • Accommodation arrangements.
  • A return economy flight.
  • A maintenance allowance for living expenses (up to £250 per week during the residence period).
  • A University of Oxford identification card.
  • Ongoing support throughout the fellowship, including facilitating access to online training and resources.

Applicants are required to:

  • Submit a project proposal of no more than 1000 words.
  • Provide an updated curriculum vitae (CV).
  • Ensure that their proposed Oxford host sends a statement of support indicating their willingness to serve as an academic collaborator during the fellowship.

Please note that applications submitted without the consent and support letter from the proposed Oxford host will be immediately disqualified.
