Azman University, Kano obtained its provisional license to operate as a Private University on 15th May, 2023. The University is deeply committed to realizing its dream of a world-class status where research and innovations are the order of the day. Having received the necessary approval from the Federal Executive Council, Azman University Governing Council hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Librarian

Location: Kano
Employment type: Full Time

Responsibilities

  • The University Librarian is a Principal Officer answerable to the Vice Chancellor for the day-to-day administration and control of Library matters in the University.
  • He/she shall be in charge of the management and administration of the university library as well as branch libraries in faculties and centres of the University.
  • He/she shall also be responsible for linkages with other Library organizations and Publishers, both national and international

Requirements
Candidate shall possess the following qualifications and qualities:

  • A relevant Ph.D
  • Versatility in information technology (IT) and library automation
  • A good record of scholarly publications through reputable medium.
  • Shall have a minimum of 10 years cognate experience and the capacity to initiate research in a University system or comparable organization
  • Shall not be above the age of 60 years at the point of assumption of duty
  • Membership of relevant professional association is an added advantage.

The Librarian shall hold office on such terms and conditions as may be specified in his/her instrument of appointment.

The following format should be used for preparation of Curriculum Vitae:

  • Full name with surname capitalized
  • Date of birth, town and state of origin
  • Nationality
  • Current postal address (including GSM number and email address)
  • Permanent home town address
  • Marital status
  • Institutions attended with dates
  • Academic qualifications (degrees with classes-copies of certificates to be enclosed)
  • Teaching, research, administrative and managerial experience
  • Academic distinction
  • Membership of academic and professional bodies
  • Scholarly publications, the link to Google Scholar, ORCID, SCOPUS and Research Gate
  • Names and addresses of three (3) referees who should be able to attest to the candidate’s academic and managerial abilities as well as his/her moral character and uprightness.

Note

  • Only qualified candidates will be requested to make themselves available for interview with the Selection Committee of the Governing Council.
  • Referees should be contacted by each candidate to submit signed electronic copies of confidential report in PDF format to the same email address stated above.
