Job Description

  • The Financial Planning and Investment Analyst supports all matters related to Old Mutual Nigeria’s Strategic Planning including the financial and budgeting aspects as well as the preparation of the annual Business Plans that are submitted for consideration and approval.
  • The role also has the added responsibility of supporting the investment function of the business and other ad-hoc responsibilities as deemed fit by the Strategy and Investment Manager.

Responsibilities
Strategy and Financial Planning:

  • Support the supervisor by gathering information, coordinating, and communicating with Business Units in managing the annual business planning exercise.
  • Utilize effective interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills to handle ad-hoc responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor.
  • Maintain a database of macroeconomic, industry and other relevant data.
  • Provide day to day support for the Strategy Manager.
  • Support the supervisor in creating, maintaining and updating financial models, forecasts, and budgets
  • Support the supervisor in monitoring business performance by preparing and updating reporting templates to track business plan execution. Identify trends and variations for discussion at Exco.
  • Conduct research, analysis and provides relevant economic and investment information.
  • Conduct competitor and industry research and insights.
  • Collect, organize, and analyze data for the preparation of reports to Exco, Group Stakeholders and the Board.
  • Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, professional contacts with colleagues, professional development courses, and training and/or courses as required.
  • Performs any other administrative tasks required by Strategy Manager.

Investments:

  • Research, analysis and provision of relevant economic and investment information.
  • Read all relevant environment events in relation to investments market performance.
  • Maintain up to date information on the latest economic trend in the country, latest and any updates in the financial markets.
  • Maintain a database of investment statistics to support investment decisions.
  • Conduct market research and gather market intelligence to enhance management of funds.
  • Participate in financial briefing provided by the investment managers and analysts internally and externally.
  • Ensure that all investment compliance regulations are met.
  • Provide day to day support for the Investment Manager.
  • Performs any other administrative tasks required by Investment Manager.

  • Makes recommendations for the selection of investment decisions to investment committees.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A First Degree or its equivalent in a Finance-related field or in Mathematics and Engineering.
  • Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) Required.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint).
  • 2 years experience in a similar role.
  • A good understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Interpersonal and time management skills.
