Signature Jobs is a Nigerian indigenous Restaurant and Catering company specialized in providing African and continental dishes, freshly made salads and juices. Signature Jobs was incorporated in November, 2015 situated at FCT, Abuja, Nigeria. We offer outdoor catering/delivery services and engage chefs with unique expertise in African and continental dishes, freshly made salads and juices. We are a leading brand and our mission is to standout in providing hygiene and diet based meals for organizations and individuals in Nigeria.

Due to high demand and expansion purpose, we are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Commis Chef (Pastry)

General Position Summary

  • The Chef will work with the culinary team to ensure food standards and consistency in taste and hygiene.
  • He/She will responsible for developing new recipes and will analyze the performance of each of the dishes, get customer’s feedback from the food court team and proffer ways for improvement.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manages all day-to-day operations of the pastry and bakery section of the kitchen.
  • Prepare a wide variety of goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes.
  • Able to produce all baked goods including but not limited to artisan breads and rolls, muffins, laminated Danish, laminated croissants and doughnuts etc.
  • Able to develop, designs, or creates new ideas and items for Pastry Kitchen.
  • Create new and exciting desserts
  • Ensure excellent quality throughout the dessert offerings.
  • Follows proper handling and right temperature of all food products.
  • Decorate pastries and desserts using different types of icings, toppings etc. and ensure the food presentation will be beautiful and exciting.
  • Supervise and coordinate all pastry and dessert preparation and presentation.
  • Assists in determining how desserts should be presented and creates decorative dessert displays.
  • Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a variety of people and in cooperation with co-workers efficiently and effectively
  • Able to recognize superior quality products, presentations and flavors.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Maintains cleanliness and organization in all work areas.
  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors.
  • Ensure compliance with food hygiene and Health and Safety standards.
  • Guide and motivate pastry assistants and bakers to work more efficiently.
  • Maintain a lean and orderly station and adhere to health and safety standards.
  • Ensuring Culinary Standards and Responsibilities are Met for Pastry Team.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum Certification in Culinary Arts (Pastry)
  • 3+ years of kitchen experience
  • Experience in leading and supervising junior chefs
  • Experience working within budget constraints
  • Professional, good organizational capacity, good human relationships, motivated, flexible, culturally sensitive
  • Fluency in English and local languages is an added advantage.

  • Cooks/Kitchen Assistants.

Accountability:

  • Reports Directly to: Head Chef Pastry
  • Works Directly with: Pastry Team.

  • The successful candidate will be capable of multi-tasking, rapid decision-making, have initiative, drive and a lot of energy, as well as high emotional intelligence, production skills and proven experience with interpersonal skills.
  • He/she will be committed to long-term production processes, sustainability and should be result- oriented. Successful staff member have a strong commitment to teamwork and accountability, thrive in evolving and challenging environments, and make effective communication a priority.
  • Staff of Signature jobs represent the company both during and outside work hours.
  • Team members are expected to conduct themselves in a professional manner and respect local laws, customs and Signature Jobs’ policies, procedures, and values at all times and in all its location.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions:

  • The position is based in Apo FCT, Abuja.
  • Candidates must be residents of Apo environs only!
  • Accomodation during shift hours available.
