The Office of U.S. Marine Corps Communications is the Marine Corps division in charge of USMC public affairs.

US Marine Corps Public Affairs Officer Job Requirements and Information

  • The CMC is the certifying authority for the primary MOS 4302. (PA).
  • The CMC is the certifying authority for 4302 additional MOS (PA).
  • Only officers of other primary MOSs may apply for MOS 4302 as an additional MOS if they are filling a 4302 billet, meet the performance requirements in Marine Corps Order (MCO) 1510.62, have successfully completed the Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course-DL-Phase 2 at Defense Information School (DINFOS), Fort Meade, Maryland, and have shown a sufficient level of public affairs experience.
  • Through the Special Education Program Board process, public affairs professionals can apply for MOS 4305 (Mass Communication Specialist), which qualifies them for a Master of Communications degree from San Diego State University.
  • Entry Level MOS Course: Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course (PAOQC) at Defense Information School (DINFOS), Ft. Meade, MD.
  • Phase 2 of the Public Affairs Officer Qualification Course-DL at DINFOS in Ft. Meade, MD.
  • Senior Level MOS Course at DINFOS, Fort Meade, MD: Joint Senior Political Affairs Officer Course (JSPAC).
  • Interim Level MOS Course at the DoD Joint Communication Course at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK.
