Why is School Important?

You will not be able to understand or read this article if you didn’t attend school, isn’t it? The same goes for me also.

Passing through the school system has played a major role in our lives in one way or the other. Although it isn’t easy to sit 8 hours for 5 days every week in a classroom. Loads of work attached to the system can be challenging for both students, teachers, and parents.

Today, most people tag school to be boring and annoying because a lot of time, money, and effort is invested when going to school but you can’t dispute the fact that it is highly essential in our present-day world. Below are reasons why school is essential for all:

Getting knowledge: The popular saying that says “knowledge is power” cannot be overemphasized. The basic idea for children attending school is to enable them to get quality education in several fields of study such as social studies or moral education which would enable children to interact with their fellow students or people in the society, literature, mathematics, and others.

More degree levels: Without an individual attending school, it is impossible to attend a college or university to attain a degree of education. With college, a lot of individuals have achieved their dreams of becoming a teacher, doctor, and various professions you can get through college. The professions do not only make you stand out among your peers but also come with a rewarding salary that can help you live a fulfilling life.

All-around development: The old way of schooling was to teach a child to read and write basically but today modern systems of education have been advanced to help tackle the overall development of students.

Nowadays, a child can go to school and learn how to develop their skills and talents that will help make the world a better place to live in.

What to Do if You Hate School

A lot of people find a school to be boring hence some of them have become dropouts. But there are ways to go about it if you are one of those that find a school to be annoying.

Firstly, you need to talk to someone about it. You can talk to your parents about it if you are not comfortable sharing it with your teacher.

The modern system of education has designed an office for a school counselor whose job is to help students find solutions to their struggles in school and others. This way you can find reasons to get excited to go to school.

The Six Principles For Modern Education System My Horace Mann

Below are the five principles of the man who made school Horace Mann, stated for modern education:

  • Schooling can not entirely be free. People need to pay for education, school upkeep or maintenance, and the education boards control.
  • Provision for education should be available for every individual irrespective of their class, gender, race and ethnicity.
  • Education should not be based on religious foundation rather it should be science based (non-secular and non-religious).
  • Education should pursue the precepts of a free society that encourages its citizens to air their views openly and also pave way for individual development.

Conclusion

Horace Mann the man who made school had great and positive intentions for the people. He needed to change the educational system at that time.

Before he invented school, education was based on religious and moral values and the method of discipline was drastic as students were punished and humiliated publicly. This and more triggered the change for a better system all thanks to Horrace Mann.
