Relief Rescue Initiative (RRI) is a National Non-governmental organization, which is committed and active in community humanitarian and developmental projects with its presence in Borno and Adamawa states. The primary focus of RRI is on improving and alleviating the problems of the less privileged, deprived, vulnerable group and people affected by armed conflicts in their struggle to obtain a life of justice and dignity. Areas of focus include; food security and livelihood, Nutrition, Protection, Education, Water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), Metal health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) achieved through the implementation of projects targeted at the community level especially on the most vulnerable members of the community.

In line with its focus, RRI will be implementing General Food Distributions (GFD) through the In-kind and Blanket Supplementary Program (BSFP) in Magumeri LGA of Borno State. This is aimed at preventing already vulnerable House Holds from falling into starvation and malnutrition, focusing particularly on young children 6 – 23 / 24 months and pregnant and lactating women and girls (PLW)

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Logistic Assistant

Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Employment Type: Contract

Role

  • The Logistics Officer will provide comprehensive and coherent administrative support for the RRI logistics and Procurement operations in Maiduguri and other field sites.
  • The purpose of the position is to implement logistic activities regarding the projects and the base, more specifically as regards; Warehouse management, Stock management, Support procurement and supply management, and transportation.

Roles / Main Responsibilities
The post holder will receive a context-specific ToR for each deployment, which will draw upon the responsibilities outlined below.

Fleet management and Transport:

  • Identify potential transportation company for delivery of goods to/from storehouses, to field site locations
  • Draft service contracts with a transportation company
  • Ensure all vehicles legal documentation and procedures are updated
  • Ensure that problems are reported to the logistic oanager as soon as possible.
  • Ensure and supervise loading/unloading operations.
  • Fill all the documents needed for transportation of goods (Packing list and Waybill)
  • Anticipate transportation needs and arrange shipments to RRI field sites.
  • Coordinate with a logistic officer regarding questions of cargo movement notifications.

Procurement:

  • Identify suppliers, and collect quotations according to the procurement process
  • Ensure that all the needed information is filled on quotations
  • Ensure a proper filing system of all procurement files and documents and constantly update the follow up tool
  • Negotiate the price, delivery time and other terms with suppliers
  • Ensure the quality of the purchase and the delivery deadlines
  • Ensure the collected documents are compliant with the procedures: supplier stamp, signature…
  • Provide invoices to the administration according to the rules of the organization
  • Ensure good communication with the program managers at all the level of the purchase process
  • Report any problem with the supplier to the Officer
  • Ensure the supply of all recurrent items (Office supplies, cleaning items, drinking water,)

Stock Management:

  • Collaboration with the Logistics sector for storing of RRI goods in common storage areas

Human resources Management:

  • Identify and manage daily workers for loading/unloading, transportation operations on sites of Tdh intervention.
  • Prepare and follow up payment forms for daily workers’ payment after completing of works.

Reporting:

  • Provide the line manager a monthly Stock report
  • Immediate feedback in case of an incident in and around our working area to the line Manager.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
The candidate is expected to be honest, strongly motivated and display a high standard of integrity in humanitarian work, disciplined and team-oriented Essentials:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or any equivalents, Higher Diploma, NCE in any field related to Humanitarian Work.
  • 2 – 3 years of progressively responsible professional work experience at national level in logistics.
  • Varied supply/logistics functional background ranging from Inventory and warehousing to transport management and distribution to beneficiaries
  • Knowledge & experience of dealing with commercial transporters and coordinating supply delivery to remote and insecure areas
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
  • Sound judgment and the ability to work effectively with others at all levels Strong assessment, evaluation, analysis and strategic planning skills
  • IT literate, MS – Word, Excel and PowerPoint Interpersonal communication and proven written / presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage under stressful conditions. Desirables:
  • Flexible and willing to work in a remote setting & to travel to other field locations.
  • Ability to multitask and work comfortably under pressure Experience from working in an (I) NGO.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Professional, open, motivated, mature, creative, responsible, flexible, and culturally sensitive
  • Preferred: A previous experience in similar roles in a similar humanitarian setup
  • With a good knowledge of the intervention areas and local context
  • Basic knowledge of the local language (Hausa/Kanuri) is an advantage.
  • The ability to multitask.
  • Good problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and diplomatic skills, including writing skills and reporting skills
  • Computer proficiency.
