Call For Applications: UNEP UNV Young Talent Pipeline

Call For Applications: UNEP UNV Young Talent Pipeline

The second phase of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Volunteers (UNV) Young Talent Pipeline begins today, 25 June 2024. Building on the successes of the first phase in 2023, this initiative aims to engage young talented individuals to become future leaders in environment, pollution, and climate action.

A Joint Partnership for Future Leaders

The UNEP-UNV Young Talent Pipeline is a collaborative effort between UNEP and UNV with two main objectives:

  1. Deploy a second cohort of 12 young talented individuals in roles aligned with UNEP’s mission.
  2. Recruit candidates from diverse regions including Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Asia-Pacific, and Africa.

Who Should Apply?

If you are 33 years of age or younger, and passionate about environmental solutions addressing climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss, consider applying. Women and individuals from marginalized groups are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates should possess academic degrees in relevant fields and at least three years of professional experience.

Opportunities for Growth and Development

Selected candidates will be stationed at UNEP’s headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. The assignments are set to begin in November 2024 and will last for 12 months, with the possibility of extension. Those recruited will benefit from various learning and professional development opportunities, including a comprehensive suite of online learning programs.

Benefits and Entitlements

These positions fall under the United Nations Volunteers international specialist category. Volunteers are remunerated with a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA), which is post-adjusted for the duty station. Additional benefits and entitlements include:

  • Travel to and from the duty station
