Essay Prompt:

Share your perspective on moving beyond GDP and its implications for shaping a more sustainable and equitable future. Reflect on the following question:

“What values and principles would you like to see in a Framework to Value What Counts beyond GDP and what are the challenges to be addressed as a priority?”

Benefits:

  • Publication Opportunity: Ten winning essays will be included in a compilation published by the SDG Lab and Rethinking Economics.
  • Participation in Meeting: The authors of the top five essays will have travel and accommodation costs covered (up to €1,300) to attend the meeting on April 17. They will have the opportunity to share the main points of their essays during the event.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Age: Open to individuals under the age of 30, regardless of affiliation with the Rethinking Economics network.
  • Essay Length: Submissions should be between 700 – 1000 words, presenting a clear argument in your own voice.
  • Referencing: If citing experts or other texts, ensure clarity. Hyper-linked references are preferred.
  • Optional Image Submission: Essays can be accompanied by a photo image, credited appropriately and free to be reproduced.

Application Process:

  • Submission Deadline: March 6, 2024.
  • Evaluation: Essays will be reviewed by a jury comprising members of the SDG Lab and Rethinking Economics.
