The Restaurant General Manager controls the operation of the restaurants. The Restaurant General Manager is charged with the overall responsibility of directing the day to day operations of a restaurant, guaranteeing compliance with company quality guidelines in all areas of operation like production and delivery, customer relations, team management, restaurant related maintenance and repair, inventory management, recruiting, hiring, termination and retention of team members, financial accountability, and enforcing the delivery of the highest quality products and services customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities for a Restaurant General Manager

Leading daily operations by arranging, directing, and developing the restaurant team members.

  • Manage profit & loss, by complying with cash control/security processes, monitoring inventory, managing labor, analyzing financial reports, and taking necessary actions.
  • Interviews and recruits team members, carries out performance appraisals, takes necessary disciplinary action, motivates and trains team members.
  • Authorized to hire or fire team members (or actively participate in those decisions) with approval/partnership from Human Resources.
  • Enforces adherence to the Occupational Safety and Health Act, local health and safety codes, and also the company safety and security policies.
  • Makes sure that the restaurant complies with the preventative maintenance program as regards to facility, equipment, and grounds maintenance.
  • Making sure there’s a safe working environment and great customer experience by promoting safe working behaviors of the team.
  • Promoting fast, accurate service, positive guest relations, and makes sure products are consistent with company quality standards.
  • Confirms food quality and 100% customer satisfaction.
  • Enforces complete and timely execution of corporate & local marketing programs.

Qualifications Guidelines

Education/Experience

  • Most organization requires a High School diploma or it’s equivalent but some others favor a higher degree.
  • 2 – 4 years of experience in a supervisory role is required in food service or retail environment.
  • A verifiable track record of leadership and managerial skills while offering an excellent customer service is required.

Language Ability

This position needs an individual with excellent written, verbal, and group communication skills. This position also requires the wherewithal to read, analyze, create and interpret business memos and documents in general.

Math Ability

This position needs an individual with excellent math skills.

Reasoning Ability

This position needs an individual with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, and the ability to be flexible and adapt in various situations.

Computer Skills

  • Great computer skills are needed.
  • Must be a proficient user of the internet and be also proficient with computerized business tools like emails, learning management systems, and memo software.

Supervisory Responsilities
