Job description

A restaurant food server is one who is expected to take orders made by customers and as well smartly answers questions as regards the menu and food available. He/she is to also sell food and drinks, receive payments, revert back orders made to the kitchen staff. When customers walk in, he/she is to seat customers down, and help out with customer service and cleaning as well. A restaurant server is also known as a waiter or waitress.

Responsibilities/duties of a food server

Greet and welcome customers

You are to greet and welcome customers when they walk into the restaurant. This is to make the customer feel valued and comfortable to be able to make orders of what is available in the eatery.

Help customers with the food menu list available

You are to assist customers make their choices by presenting to them the food menu list available. This is so they can make an order quickly without any waste of time.

Revert back to the kitchen on what customers ordered

As a food server, you are expected to revert back to the chefs at the kitchen with orders made by the customer(s). While doing this, you are expected to be smart and fast.

Serve customers with requested meals

After you must have taken the orders made by the customers to the kitchen chefs to make and package, you are expected to serve the food in a good manner to the customer.

Accept payments and receipts of services rendered

As a food server, you are expected to assist customers with the restaurants POS machine to make payments. If cash payments are to be made, you are to also receive the funds and revert back to the account section of the restaurant to generate a receipt for the customers as a proof of payment.
