The Next Generation Resource Governance Leaders Program offers an internship opportunity aimed at equipping young Africans with the skills and knowledge necessary to address complex governance challenges in the energy and extractive sectors across Africa. Here’s a summary of the program:

Objective: To develop a pipeline of young pan-African leaders who can contribute to sustainable and inclusive development through effective resource governance.

Program Components:

  • The internship balances theory with real-world application, providing multi-disciplinary intellectual development, practical skills, and research abilities.
  • Participants will undergo structured capacity development processes, including training on transformational leadership, professional and career development, and digital communication and technology skills.

Responsibilities of NextGen Leaders:

  • Conduct timely and quality evidence-based policy analysis, training, and advocacy on energy and extractive sector issues.
  • Contribute to research reports and policy briefs.
  • Support media engagement activities.
  • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating annual programs.
  • Support organizational development and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Contribute to program management, monitoring, and evaluation activities.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a young African passionate about sustainable and inclusive development through effective resource governance.
  • Should have relevant academic qualifications.
  • Must possess good writing skills, knowledge of analytical tools, ability to multitask, interpersonal skills, creativity, initiative, leadership qualities, and a sense of ownership and responsibility.
