Child Saveguarding

  • Level 3: The responsibilities of the post may require the post holder to have regular contact with children or young people.

Role Purpose

  • The purpose of this post is to manage the collection, analysis and sharing of information that is important for the PM to make informed, evidence-based, strategic decisions; and to enable the PM to perform its core functions. Requires good judgment, analytical and conceptual thinking; and ability to work in high-pressure environments, with limited supervision. Also, to ME related activities.

Key Areas of Accountability
4Ws and Capacity Mapping:

  • IMO to use and update the 4Ws on a monthly basis and periodically update the partner capacity map
  • IMO to prepare regular reports, analyses and dashboards, based on the 4Ws; and keep the website updated with relevant reports, assessments and other documents
  • Develop and maintain an information management strategy, in consultation with the country office(s) concerned, including internal information flow;
  • Identify and obtain the needed data and information elements required to produce analysis and information products;
  • Create operational data management systems to enable effective analysis and monitoring including data quality control protocols and standards for validation and sharing of data;
  • Provide information management support to staff and partners as required;
  • Support in making methodological decisions about how to conduct needs assessments and/or understand/interpret the results of assessments;
  • Produce visual information such as tables, graphs and other infographics in a suitable format for reporting and illustration purpose;
  • Contribute to the revision of monitoring and evaluation tools and train program team on design and proper use of it.
  • Support lessons learned, best practices, program data, evaluations, and other information to generate donor communication pieces, proposal annexes, success stories, case studies, and other high-quality, results-based documentation.
  • Support the promotion of data and information sharing within the humanitarian community;
  • Maintain data and information-sharing relationships within the humanitarian community

Partner Reporting:

  • Develop and implement systems and processes to support new and existing partners to report into the 4Ws and meet reporting requirements for projects.

Qualifications

  • University degree, preferably at an advanced level, in a subject area relevant to information management
  • Extensive work experience relevant to this post may be considered as a replacement for formal qualifications.
  • Formal training in information management is also desirable.

Experience And Skills (Essential)

Experience:

  • At least 2 years post-NYSC progressively relevant work experience
  • Work experience with NGO, including in a humanitarian context. Extensive work experience outside the humanitarian sector which is relevant to this post may be considered as a replacement for humanitarian experience.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated skills in GIS and in using map-making packages
  • Demonstrated skills in managing data capture and storage, analyzing diverse datasets and presenting information in understandable tables, charts, graphs and reports
  • Demonstrated skills in MS Excel or MS Access (e.g. pivot tables and functions) and other relevant IM programs and systems
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to work and network effectively with a wide range of people to reach a broad consensus
  • Thinks and acts strategically and ensures that project activities are prioritized and aligned within an agreed strategy
  • A high level of written and spoken English

Desirable:

  • Skills in web design and software development
  • Experience in information management in the first phase of a major emergency response relevant to the cluster

Other:

  • Demonstrated commitment to Humanitarian Principles and the Principles of Partnership
