How to Increase Your Productivity

1. Fight Procrastination

Anyone who has tried to do better at work would know that particular bad habits affect your productivity, which as procrastination.

We are not all affected by the same bad habits, but many people can agree that procrastination and productivity are constantly warring.

Here are some little changes that will cause a huge difference.

Start Small

These habits weren’t formed in a day, so it’ll take a while to unlearn. We usually want to clump them all up together and throw them into the bin, but you might need to take them piece by piece.

Little consistent increments make the big picture. Try starting that work you want to leave for later immediately you think of it and then

Take It Easy on Yourself

You will mess up. This is a scientific fact. Some days you’ll want to slip into that bad habit of putting your work off to later, and you will.

Bad habits release dopamine to our brains, so we have gotten used to the cycle of habit-dopamine. Remind yourself that it’s a matter of progress, not perfection.

Give an Account of Your Day

This is so helpful because it makes it seem like you’re not doing life on your own, and then it helps you measure your progress.

You can give an account to a friend who can be a voice of reason, a community, or even a journal. Even writing down or speaking of your wins can boost your spirits to do more.

2. Say No to Distractions

Distractions are the brain behind procrastination. They fill up your valuable time, and eventually, the day, week, and month are gone, and your deadline is staring you in the face.

Avoid places where distractions abound when you’re ready to work. If your phone is a distraction, turning it off for the meantime while you work puts your mind in “game mode.”

3. Plan Your Todo List

To-do lists are very effective tools for reasonable work-life balance, but if not used properly can turn out otherwise.

Easy Does It

There is no award for the person with the longest to-do list. Filling your list with activities will only increase your chances of not doing them.

This is you playing a trick on yourself. The average human loves ease, so you’ll pick off the easy tasks like making your bed or “checking your social media messages.”

It’s not like these tasks aren’t important, but they take up your space which you could use to focus on more work-related matters.

Assign Time and Date

Writing down goals with no clear-cut period of the undertaking is like making wishes. Each item on your list should be timed

4. Outsource and Make Use of Apps

We are in a digital age, and slacking on digital help is just slacking in general. There’s almost an app for everything.

Use this to your advantage and make some tasks automatic. In the same vein, people are willing to perform some tasks for small fees, so you should give such tasks out rather than doing the minor and leaving the major.

5. Work on Your Rest Time

Rest is like refreshment. Including rest and sleep in your planning goes a long way in making you work efficiently.

You are the most productive after you’ve rested your mind. If you’re working 24/7, you’re likely to burn out faster than if you put in a few minutes to stand up from your desk or work area and move about.

If it’s to have a small chat with your best co-worker, allow yourself to relax and return refreshed, keyword being returned.
