Police Academy Physical Fitness Test
To pass the Police Academy fitness test, individuals need to be prepared mentally and physically. While each police department runs its own version of the physical exam, all tests are designed to test endurance, body strength and agility as well as the mental identification of each candidate.
- The running segment
One of the most important challenges during a fitness test is to successfully complete the 1.5 mile run in 15:54 minutes or less. For men, completion within 10:30 to 12 minutes is roughly average. For women, the average good time is around 13:30 to 16 minutes. A time under 12:30 minutes usually puts a candidate at the top of the class.

Recommended running regimen: To reach these goals, individuals must train long before the test. Start with a short distance and run more than 1.5 miles. By increasing the distance, the cardiovascular system becomes stronger and the candidates can run farther and faster without fatigue.
The test also requires a completion of the 300 m sprint in at least 78 seconds. This is also why it is important to build interval and sprint runs in your running regimen. I prefer doing intermittent races with an emphasis on posture, small steps and breathing.
- Improve body strength with push-ups
Pushups are another part of the police fitness test. The HPD Test 25 requires a continuous pushup. In order to calculate a pushup during the test, the filter must use the appropriate shape and the chest must briefly touch the ground.
To enhance the proper form of pushups, place the arms close to the body and tighten the core muscles of the stomach. There are several types of pushups that increase arm and chest strength:

- Wide Incline Pushups – Perform by holding hands wider than shoulder width apart.
- Push-Ups – Performed by wearing a heavy jacket.
- Wide Push-Ups – Perform by placing hands outside shoulder width apart during each pushup.
- Diamond Push-Ups – Performed by placing your hands on the floor to form a diamond between the index finger and thumb during each pushup.
All of these pushups strengthen the upper and lower body, especially the chest area. It also strengthens the core muscles.
Candidates should start by doing 100 push-ups a day. I recommend that you start by finding the largest number of payments you can make at one time. Over time, start increasing the number each day until you can do 25-30 push-ups at a time and repeat the exercise over time until you have completed 100 push-ups per day. - Sit-up exercises training
