Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) Investing in Thriving Farmers, Resilient Ecosystems

Join Us on WhatsApp

The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) is inviting proposals for modern, financially viable projects that strengthen smallholder livelihoods, restore ecosystems, and build inclusive and sustainable commodity value chains in developing countries. This funding opportunity supports initiatives where commercial success aligns with social inclusion and environmental sustainability, enabling farmers and local enterprises to access markets, increase incomes, and protect biodiversity.

Why this matters

Across developing countries, millions of smallholder farmers remain vulnerable to market shocks, climate change, and limited access to finance. CFC-backed projects are designed to tackle these challenges by promoting resilient value chains that improve incomes, restore degraded ecosystems, and ensure that growth benefits communities most in need. Successful projects contribute directly to poverty reduction, sustainable economic development, and long-term environmental protection.

Who can apply

Applications are open to eligible organizations working within CFC Member Countries.

Eligibility criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be based in, or actively working in, one of CFC’s 101 member countries
  • Demonstrate at least three years of relevant operational experience
  • Propose projects that are financially viable and scalable
  • Focus on initiatives that combine economic, social, and environmental impact

  • Trade finance solutions linking smallholders to global markets
  • Regenerative agriculture and biodiversity conservation
  • Local value addition with low environmental impact
  • Digital and agri-technology for transparent value chains
  • Improved financial access for smallholder farmers
  • Women-led enterprises and gender-responsive business models
