Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in South Africa: AWIEF Growth Accelerator 2024
Since its inception in 2017, the AWIEF Growth Accelerator has stood as a beacon of support for early-stage and high-growth-oriented women-owned and women-led enterprises (WSMEs). This flagship enterprise development program offers a comprehensive suite of resources, including growth strategy training, corporate advisory, mentoring, networks, and access to finance.
Program Overview: The 2024 AWIEF-Nedbank South Africa program aims to empower women entrepreneurs in the agriculture and green economy sectors. Through tailored business development services, tools, mentoring, and skills development, the program seeks to enhance the readiness of women to access funding opportunities and scale up their businesses.
Focus Areas: For the 2024 cohort, applications are invited from WSMEs operating in the following sectors:
- Agribusiness
- Agro-processing
- Green energy
- Climate-smart solutions
Tech-Enabled Ventures Encouraged: Technology-based and tech-enabled businesses are highly encouraged to apply, as they play a crucial role in driving innovation and sustainable development in these sectors.
Eligibility Criteria: To be considered for selection, businesses must meet the following criteria:
- South African Exempt Micro Enterprises (EMEs) or Qualifying Small Enterprises (QSEs), with at least 51% female black ownership
- Operating in agriculture (agribusiness, agro-processing), green economy, and climate-smart solutions
- Post-revenue phase
- Scalable and highly innovative ventures
- In operation for a minimum of three years
- Owned or led by ambitious and committed women entrepreneurs
- Seeking investment or funding to scale
