The StartUp Academy is dedicated to nurturing entrepreneurial talent, providing aspiring business owners with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to succeed in their ventures.
The Allan Gray Makers Startup Academy is an 8-month incubator programme designed to provide entrepreneurship training and comprehensive support to aspiring artisan entrepreneurs aiming to establish new businesses in the plumbing and electrical trades.

The StartUp Academy provides participants with:
- Comprehensive training in entrepreneurial, industry, technical, business, and market readiness
- Access to a network of successful entrepreneurs and industry experts
- Ongoing mentorship and support throughout the programme
- Lifelong support through the association upon successful completion
Eligibility
- Applicant should be aged 18-35 years.
- Relevant trade: Electrical/Plumbing.
- Unemployed or self-employed (not studying).
- Qualified electrician or plumber with a trade test.
- OR, have 3 years work experience in the relevant trade and are ready to take the trade test.
- OR, N2 certificate and 3 years work experience in either the electrical or plumbing trade.
Application Process
Required documents include:
- N2 Certificate/National Technical Diploma/Trade Test if applicable
- Proof of work experience
- National Senior Certificate (is advantageous)
- Certified Copy of ID
