Call For Applications: AI Hub for Sustainable Development Co-Design: Startup Acceleration Pilot
The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is thrilled to announce the launch of the AI Hub for Sustainable Development Co-Design: Startup Acceleration Pilot. This initiative is designed to promote AI innovations across Africa, focusing on data quality, compute accessibility, and talent development. The program will run from September to November 2024, and selected startups will have the chance to showcase their solutions in San Francisco, with the possibility of receiving funding!
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Location: Based in Algeria, DRC, Côte D’Ivoire, Egypt, Ethiopia, Kenya, Morocco, Mozambique, or Tunisia.
2. Innovation: Developing AI innovations aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
3. Focus Areas: Addressing compute, talent, or data challenges.
4. Ethical AI: Committed to responsible AI practices.

Program Phases
1. Application Phase:

2. Preparatory Phase for Successful Applicants:

– Global Networking: November 8-15
– Demo Days: November 12-14
4. Ongoing Support:
– Mentorship and skill enhancement
– Access to an alumni network and webinars
Application Process
Applicants are required to submit the following materials:
1. Application Form: Complete form addressing eligibility, project details, and motivation for applying.
2. Company Profile: A concise document (maximum 2 pages) providing an overview of the startup(s), mission, and key team members.
3. Pitch Deck: A PDF or PowerPoint deck (maximum 15 slides) clearly communicating the AI solution, its potential impact, and vision for growth.
Submission Deadline: All materials must be submitted by August 5, 2024, 11:59 UTC+3. Only complete applications received by this deadline will be considered.
Selection Process
A committee of stakeholders from various sectors will evaluate the applications based on eligibility criteria and alignment with the program’s objectives.
