Bauchi State University, Gadau is a state-owned university located in Bauchi State, Nigeria. Its main campus is in Gadau, with other campuses in Misau and Bauchi. The vision of Bauchi State University is to become a center of excellence in scholarship in as many academic disciplines as may be needed in response to intellectual and other development needed of the people of Bauchi State in particular and nation at large.

In accordance with the provisions under first schedule of the Principal Officers of the University as contained in the University law (2010) and the University’s condition of service, the Governing Council invites applications from interested and suitably qualified candidates for the position below:

Job Title: Registrar

Location: Gadau, Bauchi

The Position

  • The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day- to-day discharge of his/her duties.
  • The Registrar is a Principal Officer and custodian of the University Regulation.
  • The Registrar is responsible to the Vice Chancellor on all administrative matters of the University.
  • Functions as secretary to the Governing Council of the University.
  • Functions as Secretary to other Statutory Committees.
  • Responsible for keeping all records of the University.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Vice Chancellor from time-to-time.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants must possess a good honours Degree (minimum of second class lower) from any University recognized by the senate of the University, with at least 15 years cognate experience.
  • Applicants must have occupied the position of at least Principal Assistant Registrar, preferably or in a University similar Institution for a minimum of five years and should not be older than 60 years as at the possible date of assumption of office.
  • In addition, applicants must possess higher degree and must be ICT compliant.
  • Membership of relevant and recognized professional bodies is mandatory.
  • Candidates for the post must demonstrate evidence of strong academic and administrative leadership, good human relations and positive managerial attributes.
  • They shall be of proven personality, integrity and transparency in private and public life; should command respect as well as attract cooperation and loyalty of staff and students

Terms of Appointment

  • The Registrar shall hold office for a period of five(s) years beginning from the effective date of assumption of duty and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.

Condition of Service

  • The condition of service is as provided for by the condition of service of the University.
  • Candidate appointed shall be entitled to all officially approved benefits attached to the office of the University Registrar.
  • At the end of tenure he/she shall be entitled to other benefits as specified in the condition of service of the University.
