Job Summary

The Building Segment Manager (or Head Building Segment) works with internal and external partners to develop and implement the building segment strategy. Based on proper market and customer understanding, the building segment offer is optimized for value generation and capturing as well as to build/ reinforce a high brand equity.

Responsibilities

  • Support the country market strategy and ensure the increase of market share vs other materials and with increased margins/ improved product mix
  • Analyze market and construction trends in the building segment
  • Develop value proposition key sub-segments (priorities)
  • Elaborate opportunities for specific applications that offer benefits along the construction chain compared to next best alternatives (focus on walls, floors, hardscaping)
  • Leverage innovative construction systems and best practices based (Group-wide expertise)
  • Deliver building segment related business cases to the country marketing plan I country strategy
  • Feed local needs for R&D into a local and global organization
  • Analyze market trends in the building segment, identify the sub-segments, and benchmark with key players (ex: brick, steel). Meet with selected construction companies/ developers/ architects/ authorities and owners to understand their needs in the segment
  • Select the priority sub-segments, assess the value for DCP, the share we want to take, the EBITDA we want to generate from the selected segments
  • Analyse the opportunity for each application (wall, foundation, roof, slab…) for these priority sub-segments, specifically for wall application (includes mortars and blocks) and slabs! floors (VAP, screeds) and hardscaping
  • Define and develop the value proposition for key sub-segments, the share we want to take and the related action plan
  • Use Group support and/ or local Construction Development Lab support when applicable (segmentation methodologies and tools to help define the value proposition in the building segment, testing of systems, etc.).
  • Define the DCP Value Proposition for Products, Services and Solutions differentiating versus our competitors by key sub-segment, ensuring these “segmented offers” can be implemented with salesforce and sales tools
  • Propose business plans for these offers, with agenda and resources
  • Launch these offer in strict adherence with the proposed timeline
  • Achieve the EBITDA as per plan
  • Communicate, animate and mobilize people around the building segment ambition
  • Accelerate time to market of innovation related to the building segment (in number of months from first step to launch)

Requirements

Education and Work Experience

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial chemistry or Mech Engineering with cement background
  • MBA would be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the construction industry

Skills and Competencies

  • Prescriptive selling experience of construction solutions (preferably for buildings, including concrete, masonry)
  • Strong marketing skills, preferably in the construction industry
  • Business development related to new solutions and partnerships
  • Knowledge in construction materials/ systems
  • Knowledge of cement properties
  • Business sense and strategic thinking approach
  • Excellent communication/ presentation skills
  • Ability to influence internally and externally
  • Ability to manage and develop a team of “high profile” individuals
