As a Software Engineer, you will build the team, own key technical infrastructure and business outcomes to drive down insider risks and access risks across Google’s technical infrastructure.
The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., C++, Go or Java), or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree in an industry setting.
- 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms in either an academic or industry setting.
- Ability to communicate in English fluently in order to support global teams.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
- 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
- Experience working on large scale data pipelines, security domain, authentication and authorization (Access Controls).
- Experience in code and system health, diagnosis and resolution, and software test engineering.
Responsibilities
Support cross-functional teams, and help them effectively use the infrastructure capabilities.
Develop critical infrastructure that is needed to understand and measure internal access risks that detect and highlight security gaps, and product capabilities needed to perform large scale remediation of such security control gaps to protect sensitive data.
Produce high quality code and be responsible for the reliability of the critical infrastructure services that the team owns.
Analyze the problems based on data, build needed data pipelines and dashboards to measure the progress of the solution solving such problems; effectively implement metrics and measurements needed.
