Call For Applications: Fully-funded Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity program 2025

Atlantic Fellows for Social and Economic Equity (AFSEE), housed at the International Inequalities Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science, is an innovative fully-funded fellowship that brings together policymakers, activists, practitioners, artists, and researchers from around the world to explore and challenge the root causes of inequality. The programme is aimed at mid-career social change leaders, from diverse countries and contexts, who are working to challenge inequality.

The program has two different tracks:
Residential: Fellows on the Residential track undertake the MSc in Inequalities and Social Science degree at LSE and participate in the program’s bespoke modules over the course of the year.
Non-Residential: Fellows on the Non-Residential track, who remain in their home countries and work contexts during the active fellowship year, undertake a Postgraduate Certificate in Social and Economic Equity and travel to join their residential counterparts on the four fellowship modules.

Eligibility & Selection

We are working to build a cohort that reflects diverse perspectives and experiences, and the majority of our Fellows come from the Global South. We look for a range of characteristics in our Fellows, in addition to their alignment to our values-led program and the fellowship offering.

Eligibility requirements

Applicants for both the Residential and Non-Residential tracks must have at least 7 years of experience and be able to meet LSE’s English Language Requirements. Applicants to the Residential track must also qualify for admission to the MSc in Inequalities and Social Science program at LSE.

Apply Also: BRIDGE Internship Programme (Paid Internship with Certificate Upon Completion)

Selection Criteria

Applicants need to give us a clear idea of who they are, their values, and their work, particularly in relation to their experience in challenging inequalities; their clarity of vision and future impact; and their commitment and readiness to learn from and contribute to the AFSEE Community.

Application Process

All applicants must complete an online application through the LSE’s Graduate Application System during the application period. Please make sure you have allowed yourself enough time to complete the application, including providing all the required supporting documents. It can take time to request documents from educational institutions, and many will be closed over the winter break, so we would advise starting the process early. If your application is incomplete when the applications close, it unfortunately will not be considered.  In addition to filling in an application form, you will also need to:

Request references

Nominate two referees and make sure that both references have been submitted by the reference deadline (5pm GMT, 17 January 2025).

Upload documents

Upload documents, including your transcripts or a document stating that you do not hold an undergraduate degree; your statement of academic purpose; and your CV.

Meet language requirement

Take necessary steps to prove that you meet the minimum English-language requirements. However, please note that applicants are not required to sit an English-language test before they submit their application.

Deadline: 10 January 2025
