Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Location: Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Responsibilities
- Perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
- Design systems and components that meet company needs and requirements
- Lead in managing and providing support to the company Mechanical engineering team
- Identify new technology for use in the mechanical engineering unit, working with production team and other support team.
- Contributory participation in mechanical engineering discipline networks in the organisation.
- Support technical development and coaching in mechanical engineering discipline.
- Participate in assigned project audits and reviews, and ensure application of appropriate technical HSE in the design.
- Provides support in competency assessment of engineers, Industrial Trainees and Interns.
- Apply minimum technical specification and system engineering initiatives for project specifications and contractors’ activities on mechanical engineering equipment design.
- Verification of the design works carried out by engineering contractors to ensure proposed solutions meet integrity, reliability, operability and maintainability requirements.
- Administer the fabrication, testing, installation and commissioning of equipment, and conduct shop and field acceptance testing for all mechanical engineering design products
- Conduct experiments methodically, analyse data and interpret results, test and evaluate theoretical designs
- Analysing data to write up reports.
- Communicating with staff, directors, and clients.
- Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability and safety
- Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
- Design mechanical components and systems for various projects
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project success as per design specifications
- Conduct testing and evaluation of prototypes
- Provide input for project timelines and work within the budget to safely meet the time line
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Allocating resources and time effectively.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Attending meetings and providing input and updates.
- Plus, any additional jobs assigned by the management.
Job Requirements
- HND & Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Extensive experience working on engineering projects.
- Ability to make decisions in high-stress situations.
- Great written and verbal communication skills.
- Curiosity and a growth mindset.
- Minimum of 20 years’ experience in FMCG manufacturing company
- Relevant certifications, registrations, and licenses will be additional advantages.
- Superb creativity, vision, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and self-confidence.
